Our Story
From the Workshop to the Outback
A Growing Family Legacy
What started as a family venture, early in 2021, quickly expanded. In late 2021, we were joined by nephew, Johnny, Diesel fitter (our fixer of anything that moves—or doesn't) and the team has only grown from there. For the past six years, we have lived and breathed opal mining, working our dedicated leases across the renowned Opalton and Vergemont areas.
Innovation & Quality
We don’t just mine; we innovate. In 2024, we pushed the boundaries of the industry by exploring the viability of Galaxy Opal with our very own "Galaxy Ninja," who shall remain anonymous. Our commitment to the opal mining industry, led us to officially register Opalton Boulder Crew PTY LTD in 2025, solidifying our place in the opal mining community.
Bringing the Outback to You
While our hearts are in the dirt, our eyes are on the future. After successfully sharing our finds—from high-quality opal rubs to rough boulder opal and crystal pipe opal,—with our community on Facebook, we are thrilled to expand our reach. With daughter, Katina joining the crew in early 2026 to head our admin and social media, we are more connected than ever.
Life in Opalton
Out here in Opalton, life is tough - and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Nearly 3 hours from the nearest town we live off-grid, are self-sufficient and extremely resilient. We don’t just pull stones from the ground – we live the opal way of life.
We don’t just follow maps – we follow feeling. We trust instinct, lean on old-timers wisdom, and use time proven techniques passed down through generations. Whether it’s prospecting new ground with divining rods or cutting opal by hand with patience and care, our work is guided by intuition, tradition, and deep respect for the craft.
Local Business
Unlike large-scale operations, we keep it personal. We mine our own rough, shape and polish it ourselves. It means we know where every stone comes from – and we stand behind every piece we sell.
When you buy from us, you’re not just getting a gem. You’re holding a piece of the outback, a product of passion, hard work, and pure Australian grit.
